Storyboard

First Scene In the first scene, two friends are in front of a house. They give their goodbyes and one enters the house while the other leaves. The scene ends on the leaving character being shocked by a sudden thud sound.    Scene 2 Scene two begins when the worried friend runs into the house. Inside, he sees his friend on the ground unconscious with a sour patch kid standing over him. To make the scene for school friendly, instead of a pizza cutter, the sour patch kid will have a boxing glove. Since the sour patch kid can't be animated, it will be played by an actual person. The scene will include a voiceover saying, "First their sour." Scene 3 After realizing that the other person is there, the sour patch kid will kneel down and start shuffling through the unconscious friends' pockets. The sour patch kid will pull out his wallet and take out his money. While this is happening the friend will be screaming at it in shock and anger. Scene 4 Scene 4 will start with the ...

Planning

Image
Planning Props  The props I plan for using in the commercial are a pizza cutter, a ketchup stained t-shirt, and a wallet. Costumes  Costumes I plan on using are a white t-shirt and separate ketchup stained t-shirt. That way, instead of pouring ketchup onto someone, they can just switch t-shirts, which saves time. There will also be someone wearing solid color shirt and pants to represent the sour patch kid(s).  Schedule On October 22, I will research common tropes and conventions in commercials for my selected product. On October 23, I will decide on the props, costumes, schedule, location, and actors for the commercial, along with any back-up plans for if they aren't available. By October 27, I will submit a storyboard outlining the commercial. Between October 28 and 30th, I will record the necessary shots to make the commercial. During this time, we will edit the recordings to make a commercial of suitable quality and length. Location The commercial will be filmed at my...

Research

Research I will be working on a Sour Patch Kids commercial. Most Sour Patch Kids commercials tend to follow an unlucky protagonist as they're tormented by the Sour Patch Kids, before the Kids show a kind gesture. There are several reoccurring qualities to a Sour Patch Kids commercial. The ones I have been able to find are as follows. 1. Voiceover. Every ad for Sour Patch Kids I could find had a voiceover, which usually follow the same format. "First their sour, then their sweet." 2. The trademark slogan.  In every Sour Patch Kids commercial, there is the iconic slogan for the brand. "Sour Patch Kids. Sour. Sweet. Gone." If it isn't this line exactly, then it is some variation on it.  3. Comedy. In every commercial I have seen, the Sour Patch Kids tend to follow a predetermined comedic routine. First they're cruel or mean to somebody before being nice in some way. This procedure corresponds with the voiceover as they're giving their lines. I think t...
