Intro Blog

 My name is Jeremiah Bethea. I am currently in my sophomore year at Fort Lauderdale High School. Currently I am making this blog as a part of my AICE media studies class. The idea of a blog never appealed to me, but I have to do what I have to do. In media studies, we will occasional have to do things like this where I'm not interested but I'm obligated as a student to do it. To add insult to injury, I joined this class voluntarily, so it isn't like I have much of a right to complain anyway. Knowing these things might lead you to ask yourself why I joined this class. For my teacher who I know is going to read this, I don't want you to get the wrong impression. Its not that I regret joining the class; I simply think the benefits of this class outweigh the negatives. I've enjoyed all types of media from movies, to comic books to video games ever since I was a little boy. Knowing the ways  media is made and the effect it is supposed to have gives me the ability to critique and appreciate that media in a way I wasn't able to before. For example, I went to see a movie recently and I noticed that in scenes where we were supposed to feel intimate with the characters, there would be a close-up; and in scenes where they wanted the characters to feel isolated, the camera was far away. The class is very educational and beyond that, practical. I may not care for a blog, but knowing how to make one is useful for people who want to take it on as a hobby. Filmmaking isn't my goal in life, but it does open up other avenues. So far, I enjoy being in media studies. It also didn't hurt that I was told the class would be easy, and that I have a nice teacher. Right now, I plan on continuing on the way I've been already, but I can't help but wonder what will be the next thing I'll blog about. Your guess is as good as mine, but until then, see you later. Editing Blog for The Music Video

 Hello again, this is Jeremiah. For the past few days I have been working on my music video. At the moment, I am working on my editing for the video. Similar to the filming, there are some problems that I have been coming across. Since it takes place at night, trying to make it watchable without overdoing the exposure is troubling. I am thinking about just using a flashlight in the night scenes but it might ruin the look of the video. I am worried about having to leave it in because I won't have time to do it over. There is also the issue of pacing. I want the content in the music video to mirror what is happening in the song when it happens. Since the music video is kind of quick, the music video will be quick as well. It worries me that the music video will be too fast and hard to watch. Pitch for the Final Project

      After spending a considerable amount of time thinking, I came up with an idea. A vagabond makes his ends meet through scams and hustling, and one day he tries to make it big in the casino, but things don't go as planned. I particularly like this pitch. It is simple yet effective. The premise is realistic and easy to execute on. Filming can be done indoors, so I can avoid having my schedule ruined by inopportune weather (or the judging looks of my neighbors). The grounded premise means there is no need for CGI, which is one of the projects requirements. I especially like how the pitch is still vague enough for me to exercise some creative freedom. I had many ideas for what my pitch could have been, but this is the only practical one I have found. The rules I told you about in my last blog narrowed the selection pool quite a bit. Planning for my Music Video

 Planning The song will be on Weird Al Yankovic's "Trapped in the Drivethru." Props The props I will be using for this commercial are as follows: a hamburger, a car, and keys. Since the song is about going to a drivethru, having a burger will only be natural. By that same logic, you can't have a drivethru without driving. The keys may seem unnecessary at first but there is a specific line that refers to them, so they are needed. The video needs to align with an already existing song, so the room for creative freedom is very small. Only what is needed will be used. Costume s  The costumes for this video will be very casual. Almost makes me wonder if I should even call them costumes. The song takes place at night and is supposed to have a "just got out of bed but I'm hungry so I guess I'll do this" vibe. You will likely see me just wearing pajamas. Location  There will only be 2-3 locations: the inside of my house, my driveway and possibly a drivethru....
