Pitch for the Final Project
After spending a considerable amount of time thinking, I came up with an idea. A vagabond makes his ends meet through scams and hustling, and one day he tries to make it big in the casino, but things don't go as planned. I particularly like this pitch. It is simple yet effective. The premise is realistic and easy to execute on. Filming can be done indoors, so I can avoid having my schedule ruined by inopportune weather (or the judging looks of my neighbors). The grounded premise means there is no need for CGI, which is one of the projects requirements. I especially like how the pitch is still vague enough for me to exercise some creative freedom. I had many ideas for what my pitch could have been, but this is the only practical one I have found. The rules I told you about in my last blog narrowed the selection pool quite a bit. I'm working alone so something that requires multiple people to do is out of the question. I wouldn't have done it anyway, but the restriction of CGI made some concepts more work than it is worth. Lastly, even though it wasn't mentioned in my last blog, it had to be fun. I wouldn't think too, let alone, try to make a product I would loathe. If I was going to do it, it would need to be something that I could have fun making.
That is what led me to my pitch. The casino is such an interesting place. People my age aren't allowed in casinos, so the only glimpse is what we see in hyper-stylized and exaggerated depictions in media. It also needed to serve as an introduction to a story that can be flushed out later. All in all, I think what I came up with fits me and this project nicely.
